How three strategic consultations brought this space to life
Not every project needs to be full service to feel fully designed.
As a Ridgefield CT interior designer, I often work with clients in different ways depending on their needs—and this studio makeover is the perfect example of how thoughtful, well-timed design guidance can completely transform a space.
I had the pleasure of working with an incredibly talented client who brought me in at three key moments throughout her renovation. Each touchpoint was intentional, focused, and ultimately allowed her to move forward with clarity and confidence.
Consultation Number One: Setting the Foundation

Before construction even began, we met in the space to talk through how she truly wanted to use it.
We discussed:
-Function and flow
-Space planning and layout
-Ways to elevate the design beyond the expected
-And most importantly—honing in on her personal style
This client is in the business of creating custom, high-end memory books for extremely high-profile clients—think NDAs and mohair book covers. She wanted a space that reflected her clients’ lifestyles, allowing her to connect with them while also inspiring both her and her team as they work on these one-of-a-kind treasures.
As you can imagine, my client is incredibly creative, thoughtful, and talented, so we talked through multiple scenarios—where things should go and how the space would be best used. This phase is everything. It’s where the vision gets defined so that every decision moving forward feels aligned. Most importantly, she brought me in before calling the construction crew, which allowed us to create a clear plan, get accurate quotes, and avoid making important decisions under time pressure.
Consultation Two: Decision-Making During Construction

Once construction was underway, I came back in for a focused working session to tackle the decisions that matter most—and tend to feel the most overwhelming.
Together, we:
-Selected the perfect paint color for the built-ins
-Chose hardware that felt elevated and cohesive
-Worked through the finishing details of the existing fireplace mantel
This is often the point in a project where decision fatigue sets in. Instead of rushing or second-guessing, we made thoughtful, confident choices that supported the overall vision we had already established.
Consultation Three: The Final Layer

After the dust settled and construction was complete, I returned one last time to style the space ahead of a professional photoshoot.
We layered in the finishing touches—the details that take a space from “done” to truly designed.
The result? A beautifully refined studio that not only reflects her style but was also featured as a cover story in Ridgefield Lifestyle Magazine.
Why This Approach Works
This project is a reminder that great design isn’t about how much support you have—it’s about having the right support at the right time.
Working with a Ridgefield CT interior designer in this way allowed the client to:
-Stay in control of her project
-Avoid costly or rushed decisions
-And still achieve a cohesive, elevated result
Considering a Similar Approach?
If you’re renovating or refreshing your home and don’t need full service, working with a Ridgefield CT interior designer through strategic consultations can give you the clarity and direction you need—without the long-term commitment.
A Note to My Client
It was truly a pleasure working with you—your talent and vision made this project such a joy to be part of. I’m so excited to see your space recognized and shared.
